I recently ran into some trouble with my Sony VAIO Laptop Model PCG-8112L. I would start up my computer and log in and eventually it said my anti virus system needed to be updated and then would freeze and I would have to hold the button down in order to restart it. I ran a bunch of hard drive tests and VAIO System tests and after hours of tests there was nothing wrong with the system at all. I had Windows 7 at the time and decided to bring things back to Factory Settings. I don't care what operating system I end up with I just want my computer to work.

I click the C:// Drive Restore I skip the first two options and then send it into becoming Factory Settings in order to make the computer like new again and move on with my life. Everything starts out fine, it seems to be running fine and I start to have hope again. It then starts Windows Setup with the thing saying Windows is now setting up the following items:

    (Green Check Mark) Disable Standby

    (Green Check Mark) Disable Hibernation

(Green Check Mark) Disable Monitor Power Down

In all bold VAIO Module Installer

There's a big green bar running by to show the progression of the installations and the green bar is stuck at 60% with a window titled Installing DSD Direct and says in the description Installing the requested software. This may take several moments. The mouse cursor appears when I move it to certain parts of the screen but other than that it's a constant blue loading circle going round and round.

This is a second attempt and this has occured again. I was able to get back into the Restore page again but if it loaded past that it said Windows Vista has failed to install press close to restart and it would just show the same message if I let it load all the way again. So restarting my computer while the frozen 60% is the is what causes that. But I am able to restart my computer by holding down the button and am able to go into the restore menu again.

Can anyone tell me what to do, what is wrong or how to fix it?

I can and am willing to email you a picture of what the screen looks like if my description isn't good enough.

It looks like that laptop is a VGN-AR825E?

do you have the recovery discs that should of been burned when you first got the laptop? I would try booting those. If you don't have them, can you boot into windows at all and burn them?

It's my brothers old laptop so I'll have to contact him to see if he did make them. If he did not and I can't access windows to make them. Are there any more options or am I out of luck?

I took it in to an official computer store and I'm going to let them handle it. Thank you for your response I appreciate that you were able to reply so quickly.
