    Hi I have just recently got a vgn-c140g (for only 900$ from CC)

    I have noticed the same problem with the speakers picking up noise from the CPU or other motherboard items and outputting that noise as "clicks", I was wondering if anyone has had any success at getting Sony to replace or fix the problem,

    i have currently just disconnected the speakers from
    the motherboard, not very hard to do but would like to be an official fix... (i have to use my headphones now to hear anything...)

    any success stories would be great...
    let me know,
    thanks

    This is on a notebook? Disconnecting speakers was easy?

    Well, I am going to make a guess and say that you have a desktop. If so, then your speakers may be making odd noises due to interference from other electronic devices.

    hi,
    In my case my VGN-C140G makes a scritching noise when I scroll a window or move a window around. Sony agreed to check my laptop (I have a click noise coming from my hard drive too). They told me I would receive a box 3 days after my call so I can send the laptop back. This was one week ago and I still haven't received the box yet. I suppose Sony's support is not what it used to be. Anyway I would suggest you to call them for information or perhaps even return the laptop for maintenance.

    Same here.. although no noise from scrolling, there's a strange static/humming sound coming from the speakers of my wife's C290.

    Sony called me when my laptop was in repair and told me that the noise was normal for this model (!). So no solution for the noise. Regarding the hard drive they just run a check software (don't know which one) and said that they found no problem. Basically they sent me the laptop back without doing anything. At least they kept the laptop only a little more than one week.
