I have a Sony Vaio VGN N21M with Windows vista and my dvd/cd player has stopped reading the discs. It stiil seems to go through a register process when you enter a disc but ultimately doesnt recognise it. Its been working fine up till now! Anyone got thoughts as to a fix?

    thanks

    1. Is the optical drive still showing up in Device Manager?

    2. Have you changed region too many times?

    3. See this Microsoft article.

    1. yes, the optical drive is showing ok
    2. Ive never changed regions!
    3. Im not sure if this is the answer as I am not getting any error messages. the only message I get is when I tried to start the DVD direct by double clicking on the drive in My Computer..I got the message to enter a disc( ie it wasnt seeing the disc that was in the drive)

    thanks anyway!

OK. Maybe the autostart option has got disabled.

Does the player software play the disc OK if you start it?
