I looked all over here but could not find a thread on if I could drop a P9600 into my FW480? It has the P7350 in it now and is not VT capable. Would this be a good upgrade if I can get the cpu for less then 300 bucks?
    TIA,
    quick

My chipset is the PM45 w/ ICH9-M. I cant see the hardware being a problem but the limited Bios settings might. Anyone know if the bios will just defalt to the faster processor or not?

Well despite NO help from this forum, I replaced my P7350 with a P9600 and it works great! I have VT now and a 33+ percent increase in power! Hu Hu!

Not only does it work well, but it is running with a 10.5 multiplier making it as fast as the P9700!

The Sony bios realy suks but apparently it defaults to the cpu settings automatically. This cpu is far superior and I'm glad I upgraded it.
