Which has better cooling for the CPU, the new SVS13 series or the old Vaio z21/z22?

Also, has it been confirmed that the SVS13 series is using the Z series 1600x900 LCD or is it the same as on the SA series?

Z is 13.1, S is 13.3. Impossible to be the same panel.

I believe the S13 panel is marginally better than the one on the old SA (you can compare contrast etc. on notebookcheck). It is not the VAIO Z LCD. Color contrast is still on the weak side.

The S13 CPU cooling is similar to the old SA as well. With full CPU and GPU load during benchmarks, the CPU can hit mid 90s, but typically does not throttle. External temperatures are reasonable though.

    Not sure about Z series.

Well that answers my questions, at least in terms of what others are experiencing. Looks like I will have to fully disassemble my SA to get the full answers (my CPU is definitely throttling and I'm considering trying to do a panel uprade).

Anyone else have throttling issues with the SA2/SA3 series?

^ i don't, even when playing Battlefield 3. but i have disabled Intel TurboBoost on my SA2.

in case you decide to upgrade the panel on your SA, i'd be very interested to know the details and would appreciate it if you could let us know. apparently, the new 2012 S series has a better panel, fyi.

Yes I'll definitely let you know.

I run a lot of midi tracks with a lot of effects with Ableton Live. Processor usage goes 30%-90%-120%-220%.
I guess I'll try to do a repaste pretty soon. I'm not exactly happy holding the motherboard in one hand but I'll do what has to be done.

Last night did NOT go well in an attempt to swap 1600x900 and 1366x768 screens AND cables between SA and SB series.
Check my more on topic thread to hear about it.
