I have a CW laptop circa 2009 that isn't receiving power. I suspect a broken power jack but am wanting input before taking it to the shop.
For months before this, I had trouble with having to angle, jiggle, wiggle, pin, tape, partly-pull-it-out the cord in order to get my laptop to charge, and the battery never got higher than 25%. I tried out a different cable and tried the cable on a different laptop, too, and it was definitely not the cable.
I took the laptop on a plane, and after landing and plugging it in, the battery light briefly turned on, but not since. Again, I tried different cables, but it just doesn't register as being powered.
Any advice?

the battery could be dead or the motherboard connector is..

That would mean a problem with the motherboard connector, right? -
There is no soldering require for your Sony laptop DC jack.
To save your money by going to shop, you can buy this cable
AC DC Power Jack Harness Sony Vaio VPCCW VPC CW Series Cable Motherboard | eBay
Depending on where you live, it may take up to 2 week for delivery since it is from china.
Open you laptop, then change the cable. You may find instruction somewhere on this forum too.
