Sob! I finally decide to place my order for a Z ... and the campus value savings offer is GONE? More sobs!

Now I can't afford blu-ray (I was debating it), or any accessories. Just what I want + the warranty, and still a pinch over budget. That $300 made it feel *way* better. With it, I would have gone a couple hundred over budget even, LOL. Without it ... shoot, I almost don't want to order. ACK.

Thought I'd point out the deal is gone to others. I'm genuinely upset I missed out, I was so ready to order now ... had no idea it would disappear on me, now I feel screwed. :(

Also, adding insult to injury - in live chat a few minutes ago the sales person didn't bother to correct me and let me know this deal was gone, after I said that's what I was using. (No shock, the person was pretty useless all around, but still.)

Well I'm sorry you missed it, but...it did say on the information page the deal was through September 16. It's not like they just decided to end it suddenly. Cheer up though, I'm sure some new coupon or special deal will arrive within a few days.

Also, you could try just calling on the phone and begging....if you get a nice salesperson, they might help you out with some kind of discount.

I *completely* missed that [obviously]. :( I would never have waited for the stupid e4300 had I realized that!! I knew I had some interest in the Dell, but also knew my mind was pretty made up. Now since it said an end date there's no way they'd give it to me.

I am set on ordering this month, and had actually decided this week ideally in order to have it by vacation ... so crappy. They have other deals, none of which effect the total price of the notebook I want configured with the warranty.

Well they're under no obligation to give it to you, but honestly, I play stupid with salespeople and get discounts all the time. Just make them feel sorry for you :) Or, you could try going into a SonyStyle store and begging in person? But, yea, short of waiting for a new deal to come out you're out of luck. Sorry!

Oof, I hate doing that, but Sony store here. Maybe....maybe. :/

I also just remembered the ProVantage warranty, I'll go find that info again and see if that + the CTO still keep me in the range I thought I would be in. (It wasn't worth it before b/c the value pack gave me two things I wanted along with the savings ... but now ...)

Also, remember that some credit cards automatically give you an extended warranty. Granted it's not as good as the one provided by Sony, but it's at least some peace of mind.

    I feel the pain.

I had cto'd an FW with free 2 to 3gb ram upgrade, 160 to 200gb hdd upgrade, and free student office. I got cold feet with the engraving I chose and ended up canceling the order within an hour of placing it. Only problem is that the rep couldn't cancel the order, only request to cancel the order.

So when the charge showed up on my card the next morning, I called Sony back and requested to cancel my cancellation request thinking that I'd rather have the laptop sooner and not have to wait and reorder it- also knowing this is the laptop I wanted and I was more than likely not going to want to return it. Rep noted the order and said it should be taken care of. A few days later I got an email from the CS person saying the cancelation wasn't successful and the notebook was being shipped that morning. Soon after that email, I get a cancelation successful email from Sony.

I waited another couple of days for the money to be deposited back into my account. When I tried to place the order again, the upgrades were gone. I called the CS rep back and explained everything... they said "it is your fault".. which I know it was, but Sony's lack of order management and CS missteps, along with having to wait for my account to be re-credited even though I was told, without asking, that I wouldn't be charged until the unit was shipped, all surely made the problem much more difficult. I was so irate about someone telling me "it was your fault", I lost my cool and my opportunity for a stranger to help me.

off topic, but because of this experience, as well as being surprised with how much crapware comes on these things, I'll be looking at Mac next time just to spite Sony.

Well, I hate this the most because I know it IS my fault ... I was so excited about the laptop configurations and crap I truly never noticed the date.

I talked with my mom (who is footing the bill) and she agreed I can wait just a bit more rather than sacrificing something if possible...so this means for my vacation I'll be able to go to the SonyStore in AZ come October. :) I'm happy about this ... it sucks to wait and have to pay $300 more, but at least I'll get to see the dang machine first and know which resolution I want.

At least something positive came from this. ;) And hopefully after I see them ... a new deal witll pop up and help me out.

You took the words out of my mouth! I was just going to say that. I basically got my 3 year warranty with accidental damage for basically $50 on top of a nicely configured SR with 2 free cases.

sorry, didn't know someone replied to me.
I hope I will receive the deal. I didn't actually place my order until the 17th, but it was in my cart well before then...so I guess it was still valid. But my SR is on back-order status tho(haven't receive or been billed yet). I know it is the campus deal for sure because I do have the 2 accessories and warranty. Total came out like 1700s-300(campus deal)-200(promotion code)=1300s with tax.

Call Laptop One. You may well get an even better deal than you would have gotten with the Campus deal. Ask for Ivan.

I am really considering the Sony Z. I was kind of on the fence whether I wanted to upgrade my laptop or get a netbook. I liked the U330 but gosh they are taking forever to ship that thing out. Now the only thing stopping me from ordering a Sony Z is the price tag! What's the cheapest I am going to be able to find one for? I have seen amazon selling it for $1600, but even that is a little hard to swallow vs the $1000 price tag (with coupons) for the U330. Any help on configuring and applying coupons to get a Z for a decent price? (you can pm me too :D ) Thanks.

No coupons for the Z. Amazon is the cheapest (or was, now its 1900+)

Just swallow the price, and get the BEST light-weight performance beast to fall in LOVE with :D

U330 = ugly, bulky, and lack of functions :D (sorrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrry)

Amazon's price seems to be fluctuating. I don't know how that number changes, but take Z570 for instance. At its lowest, it is at like 3% off, and then it goes down to over $300 off, and goes back up to 3% off. Right now, its at 3% again, but the price may go down again.

I am just gonna wait until some dumbass buys it, regrets it and then puts it on craigslist.
I've seen a few TZ for very good prices and still under warranty.

    soon there will be a Z :D

Well, you can get a Z520 on Amazon for ~$1600.

That's a darn good deal, IMO.

Yeah, I just ordered one. The same model is selling for $1999.99 at bestbuy right now.

I am returning the latitude E6400 I just bought my wife for a Z - for almost the same price! Now that is crazy....
