Can I automatically switch mouse speeds when switching mice? (S580 with V270)

I recently purchased a Logitech V270 Bluetooth mouse to use with my Vaio S580. I installed the latest Toshiba Bluetooth drivers from the Sony website (150MB, for cryin' out loud) and the mouse works quite nicely. But the one annoyance is that the best mouse speed setting in Control Panel is very different for my touchpad and the V270. I need to slow it way down for the mouse and speed it way up for the trackpad. The adjustment is so large that it is really annoying to make after I switch pointing devices because it's a pain to actually open the control panel then.

I know: whine, whine, whine. But if anyone out there knows a way to automatically set the appropriate speed when you switch between pointing devices please let me know. I tried to install the Logitech SetPoint software to see whether this would help but it refused to install because I wasn't running the Widcomm Bluetooth stack. Since the mouse otherwise works fine I don't especially want to risk messing things up by switching Bluetooth stacks but if that will work I'll give it a try.

    Any advice?

I hope you like it; it's a nice design and pretty comfortable. It has an on-off switch, and comes with a little carrying case.

i have the very same problem with sz and v270 mouse. wonder if we can switch somehow between two different hardware profiles, one with low speed and one with high speed mouse setting?

After a long long time Logitech got back to me and told me it wasn't possible, since Windows handles the mouse tracking speed setting. I'm not sure I believe this. At the very least it ought to be possible to write a very small program that switches this setting between two (or more) values. A better trick would be doing this automatically when a bluetooth device is connected or disconnected, but that might be too hard.

This sort of thing might exist (though I haven't found it) but if not, do any Windows hackers out there feel like taking this on?

I had this same issue with my SZ ad the logitech bluetooth mouse. It annoyed me so much I returned it.

Has anyone tried using any other bluetooth mouses with their laptop that keeps the same pointer speed?

Im thinking about buying the sony bluetooth mouse and giving that a try.

I purchased the Sony bluetooth mouse, and have the same issue. I compromised by putting it in the middle where the sensitivity on the touchpad is a bit slower than I like, and the mouse sensitivity is a bit higher than what I like. All about getting used to both I guess. If someone finds an ability to switch when using either input device, that would be awesome.

I got the same mouse for my laptop, same problem.

Check out this program MouseSwitcher, I think it does exactly what you want. You can set 2 different mouse speeds, then instantly switch between them with a hotkey.

I got the speed maxed for my touchpad, and set at 3 for my V270, works great!
