If I can find an SSD to replace my HD, is it possible to open and upgrade either my SZ670 or my TZ190? I was about ready to purchase a 2.5" SATA SSD but then realized I'm not sure if I can actually get into either of these laptops.

Can anybody offer info on this -- please?

    Thanks!

If the two laptops have SATA connections, then there is no reason why an ssd drive would not work in there just like any other plain hard drive.

It's not the type of drive you should be concerned with, it's the connection type. As long as you have the same one, you are fine.

The SZ for sure, but I'm not sure about the TZ, does it use a 1.8" HD or a 2.5"?

The TZ probably has a 1.8" IDE drive. Even if it does, there are 1.8" IDE SSDs on the market.

Thsnks for the feedback, but I'm also concerned with whether I can open either th TZ or SZ to access the existing HD - is this something an average (reasonably knowledgeable) person can do or does getting inside either the SZ or TZ risk damage or require special tools?

    Thanks!

Read this guide and decide for yourself if you can do the job. The TZ is disassembled the similar way, although no one has made a disassembly guide for it yet, as far as I know.
