Can I watch a DVD played on an external player through a laptop monitor?

    Hi there,

My Sony VAIO will not play certain DVDs. Ihave an external DVD player that I use for music and it will play those DVDs. But here's the catch - the only way of watching my dvds is through the laptop monitor. I have no TV.

So, is there any way that the VAIO will take the signal from an external DVD player, ie can its screen function as a mere monitor?

I know it's easy to send the signal out from a laptop but can the reverse happen?

If so, how do I do it?

    Thank you very much :)

You can buy an "external USB TV tuner / TV card". Google it.
