    Can SR240 utilize 8GB RAM with Windows 7 Pro 64-bit?

    I have a VGN-SR240N/B. According to the tech specs the maximum memory it can take is 4GB. The laptop originally came with 32-bit Vista. If I upgrade to 64-bit Windows 7 Pro, will the SR240 be able to utilize 8GB RAM? The laptop's chipset is the Mobile Intel GM45 Express Chipset.

    Yes, the chipset supports 8GB RAM. It may depend on BIOS though.

    Thank you, S.Prime and NHT for your posts. Yeah, it looks like the SR works with 6 but not 8 GB of RAM, so I'll just throw 6 GB in there.
