If SZ notebooks use 2.5" hard drives, then yes. I don't think there is a 1.8" 7200RPM hard drive, but I may be wrong.

I know everybody on this forum is pretty savvy, but just to reiterate, changing hard drives in a Sony is NOT as easy as changing hard drives with about any other computer. Who knows why, but again, you have Sony's weird proprietary "stuff" you have to contend with. Also you have the battle of the warranty. Say what you will about does it or does it not effect your Sony warranty to change your hard drive, but you WILL have to explain yourself if you send the computer to Sony EVER for service. They consider RAM user serviceable, but that is it. Even CompUSA and BestBuy and any other notebook repair facility will caution you about cracking the Vaio case before the Warranty has expired. CompUSA just won't do it. They just write it up and mail the entire thing off to Sony. So the choice is really yours. It can be done. It is fairly easy if you have downloaded the tear down guide, just be forewarned.

It is really easy to do. I just changed my SZ-340 to a 100 gig 7200rpm....I kept the old drive so if I send it in for any service I will just swap the drive back. (dont want sony touching any of my personal files anyhow).
