I'm not exactly sure which kind I need. The only thine I can find is this: Installed : 4GB PC2-6400 (2GBx2)
    Type/Speed : DDR2 SDRAM/800MHz

Thats what I have and I want to max it out a 8gb but I dont know where to find it. I dont know how many pins etc or how to find that out.

I have a Sony Vaio VGN FW490JEB btw. Thanks!

Well you know more than enough already :)

You need to look for DDR2 SO-DIMM RAM (So-Dimm means it's for a laptop).

All DDR2 So-Dimms have 200 PINs, so as long as it is DDR2 - it is exactly what you need. You will need 2 x 4GB if you want to have 8, as you have 2 slots only! You also need to make sure it is PC2-6400 or higher - that's your speed- If you buy faster RAM it will clock down to the max speed your laptop allows, so it is basically useless, but if the price is the same - buy the faster one - one day you might want to put it elsewhere or sell it - you will have better chances. :)

Any further questions? So to sum up, you need 2 pieces of 4GB SO-DIMM DDR2 PC2-6400 or higher.

    Here's an example: http://www.corsair.com/vs4gsds800d2.html

But before you buy, make sure your notebook can handle 8GB! First condition for that is that you use 64-bit OS!
