    Hi guys,

I am looking to get SZ soon. I am also aware of the VISTA problems, my working environment also makes it important to have XP to run the softwares. I have got an idea to enjoy both VISTA and XP on the beautiful SZ but I am not sure whether it will work. Cause if we do a full downgrade from VISTA to XP some of the drivers are not available, e.g the web camera. So I am thinking of getting the best of both VISTA and XP into our SZ.

Can we do a partition in the hard disk then install XP into the partitioned drive. In that case we can toggle between the 2 OS during startup. So when we bring our SZ to work we boot up using XP, but off work we can enjoy the new functions by booting up using VISTA. I have heard ppl doing this but I have not tried it on myself. Anyone can offer advice?

    Regards

of course you could partition the drive and put xp pro on it. many people already do that with xp/linux, vista/linux, xp/vista and sometimes even osx.

but will it strain the laptop and shorten the battery life or make it more vulnerable to crash?

No, not at all, only downside is you have less freespace on the hard drive.

hmm so during start up we can actually chose which os to boot up with? guess i better find some experts to help me with the partition and the installation of XP into the partitioned disk. I was pretty afraid before as i heard scary stories about having 2 OS very easy to crash and the laptop would be very laggy and slow.
