    Hi,

Upsettingly, I just knocked my Z off a table. It landed open with the keyboard and screen facing the floor. There doesn't seem to be any major damage, but I just wondered if someone could check and see if their hinges look like this:

Specifically talking about the gap between the curved part of the hinge and the flat bit at the base of the screen. It increases and decreases with size as I open and shut the screen.

I may be being paranoid but it was so flat when it was on the floor I was convinced it was broken.

    Thanks for any help.

It won't clip back together, or anything like that...

If you are up to dismantling your Z...I think you can fix that by tightening the two screws that hold the screen to the hinge.

Interestingly my Z only suffered one minor drop(not a severe drop, only bout 15 cm to the table after i lost my grip), but the hinge on the left (lcd facing me) seems to be slightly crooked compared to the one on the right. Doesn't really bother me much though. Judging from your picture however your hinge seems fine

Dude, that's just the standard Z hinge problem. You probably had it before but just wasn't paying attention.

Sorry for being ignorant - what's the standard Z hinge problem?

(Thanks for the responses from everyone)

The 2 screws getting loose causing a gap between the hinge and screen.
I had that problem with the Z117GG.

Oh right. I had heard of a problem with the hinges but didn't realise that it was a space between the curved piece and the bit attached to the screen.

So as far as everyone can tell, what mine looks like is normal?

To me it seems ok because I have seen worse.
