Hi everyone,
I want to clarify something. I own a sony sz270 and I would like to upgrade my RAM. So far, there are 2x 512mb PC4200 533mhz DDR2 inside. I was wondering if I can put 2x 1gb PC5300 667mhz DDR2 in it. I have heard of people saying that if you put higher speed RAM inside the computer will eventually destroy the motherboard. So, I would like to know if that is true. I would also like your advice to suggest me whether to stick with PC4200 (original) or it doesn't really matter. Thanks in advance.

That is not true, in anyway.
You won't see much of a difference between 533MHz and 667MHz RAM, however, since the price difference right now is very nominal, it would make sense to go with 667MHz RAM. -
max speed is 533mhz. computer will only use 533mhz as specified by the motherboard.
if you use ram lower than 533 then the computer will use that value since it's lower than the max value
if you have 1 ram that's lower than 533 and the other that's 533 then the computer will use the lowest value
as far as blowing up the computer... that's not true. however if you improperly put the ram in then you may destroy the motherboard
Can someone please clarify this for me?
