Everywhere I've looked, I've only heard of the TX's optical drive being double layer and dual format.
Only in laptoplogic's review of the laptop did they mention it could read and write RAM discs. Was that a typo from that or is this really true? Or would a firmware update or something like that enable RAM compatibility?

Some drives do offer the ability to read RAM discs. What drive is it?

Not sure on other models of the VAIO TX. But the Vaio TX850 (TX3) series does not support DVD-RAM media on its optical drive. Or at least I coulden't get one to work. I would say it is a typo in laptoplogics review.
Just my opinion
Can the TX's DVD burner burn RAM discs?
