I'm not able to boot to floppy on my new A240 using an HP usb floppy drive. It works fine on my old HP laptop, as well as my Acer c300 tablet PC, but won't work on the Sony. Once I'm in windows, it recognizes the floppy drive with no problems.'

Is it possible to boot to floppy on these notebooks?

This has happened to me a lot of time to. What you have to do is go into BIOS when your computer starts and make sure that the Sony laptop will try and boot from the floppy before booting to the hard drive. I used to have a Sony and it did the same thing. Sony does this because they don't have any new laptops with a built-in floppy so there is no need to try and boot from one. I hope this helps! [ :D]

I don't know about that situation. I guess that you might be right. Because, I did use a Sony Floppy Drive, now that I think about it. But, it shouldn't even matter. Because floppy drives don't usually run on a specific driver. I don't know, but it might be worth a try! [ :)]
