Can you name the utility that sets the % of battery charge?

I have an SZ, which originally had a small utility that permitted setting the CHARGE LIMIT to 50%, 80%, or 100%. That's a great idea, because 50-80% prolongs battery life for desktop replacement use, and 100% lasts longer when traveling.

Unfortunately, while taking out the trash I lost that utility, or lost the ability to use it.

The utility appears to set a control condition IN THE BATTERY ITSELF, so when it's no longer available the battery charges to the last commanded state. In my case, that's 80% - which is insufficient for travel.

I believe that utility appears on the TZ and perhaps other Sony laptop groups. Do you know its name, and where it's stored? I downloaded the 50MB Utility Pack from the Sony website, but though it includes Battery Checker it doesn't seem to have the ability to set the CHARGE %.

    Thanks!

    Thanks --that's it.

I need to find the FILE. On this SZ670, a search for "VAIO BATTERY CARE" or just "BATTERY CARE" comes up empty.

If it's a stand-alone .exe, could someone email it to me?

ISBMGR doesn't start up on this laptop. It appears as an exe file, but nothing happens when I click it.

    Use the Vaio recovery!
If you cant find it search in C:\Program Files\Sony\Vaio Recovery
Then you shouldnt have any problem to find and install it...

No, there's no BATTERY CARE or VAIO BATTERY CARE in there.

I also tried http://tinyurl.com/3a2mcq. Most of the way down the list there's a 49.9MB download entitled Notebook Control and Utilities, which goes here: http://tinyurl.com/3xy3u6. I downloaded and installed, but BATTERY CARE isn't there, either.

If you go to START, then type BATTERY CARE, you see the .exe, right? where is that .exe hiding? And is it a stand-alone file? If so, can you email it to me?

    Huh?
I read through your informative website, but found no reference to VAIO BATTERY CARE, which is the missing utility. I'm not sufficiently bright to understand your cryptic reference to "The wall outlet"...

Without deviation from the norm, mutation is not possible.

Without mutation, we'd never have had a Frank Zappa

It's probably inside the Sony Notebook Utilities suite. And for those to work you need sony shared library/programmable IO control etc.
