Can you reinstall Windows on a new hard drive using the backup discs you burn?

I've asked this a gazillion times in the AW thread, but no one's answered or seems to know, so...

I'm thinking about getting Sony's 18.4" AW system. I'll be buying a separate hard drive, and replacing the hard drive that ships with the system.

My understanding is the AW, like all Sonys, includes a program that generates backup discs for you (since it doesn't ship with any).

My question is-what do those backup discs let you do? Can you boot from them, and choose "restore OS" or something like that? Can I take a blank drive, and get it working again with those discs? Will I still have the Blu Ray player software, and functioning TV tuner hardware, that kind of thing?

Thanks...hopefully someone knows for sure. I'm really not sure what the Backup discs are actually FOR if you can't use them to reinstall everything :-/

One you buy a sony vaio, you need to create the recovery discs. They are bootable, and will let you recovery the complete system.

I recommend cloning the current disk image.

Since he is talking about doing this on a brand new system. It really won't make much difference. Either way will work just fine, and with the same result.
