The F2 or F3 or Fn F3, etc. do not work in accessing bios menu of my new VAIO Z.
    Is there a trick somewhere?

Press and hold F2 during power it on.

In the sony control center, check to see if fast bios startup is enabled, if so, disable it. It's under System Information in Sony CC.

Thanks for the replies, but my my bigger concern is I'm getting "NTLDR is missing" due maybe to a partition adjustmetn I did earlier. Normally, I address this through external drive, etc. but I can't access bios set boot sequence because the ntldr warning appears so quick at power up that my F2 or F11 doesn't seem to work. This new Z has very fast SSD in raid 0. Is there a way to be quicker to access bios? Thanks.
