just get a usb floppy and do an f6 install for the ahci drivers....or dig around for a version of xp with ahci support slipstreamed in (it's out there)

Why don't you use nlite to slipstream drivers in to the windows. Back to IDE is not a good idea IMO, because you can get a better performance with AHCI.

    Hi guys,
since we are talking about VPCS bios, I was wondering whether you could help me with an issue. I tried many times to replace the 320GB HDD with a 128GB SSD but to my surprise the disk was not even recognized in the bios. Have used the Acronis disc cloning to clone the original hdd. Please note that I used this ssd in the past and it worked fine.
    Thanks,
any help/hint would be of much value

Your model came with 7 pro, which allows bundled xp downgrade media. Op's configuration comes with 7 home premium, no downgrade allowed.

    Dear beaups,
do you have any idea on how we can access the rest of BIOS settings?

This is one of my biggests beefs with Sony - locking us mere mortals out of BIOS settings. It's ridiculous IMHO.

That's not good but quite normal. Was the same on my Fujitsu... is the same on my lenovo :) If I was sony I would also hide any option that could cause me repairing costs and trouble ;)
