    Hi
I would like to buy a Viao (2011 stuff) but i can't find the right one here's the thing :
I need Quad core (the 2.2 probably)
    I need portable notebook ... 15" (around)
I need a good quality screen
I use 3ds Max and Photoshop and After effect

    - I like the Vaio S, but it's not Quad core, I like the small look, sharp and clean
    - The new Serie F is a bit too huge, don't want that thing on my thigh in the Bus/Metro etc... And i don't care about the 3d and after seeing some video of the new F, im not so sure about the quality screen !
    - there a new EF on Canadian website of sony, but no info at all
    - The serie C are... not quad core... not realy for work (well it could be fine i guess)

So... What left ? Wich serie should i wait for ?

HP Elitebook, Thinkpad W series, Dell Precision are much more designed for your needs - Sony don't offer a real workstation laptop.

The only laptop in the VAIO line up that offers a Quad Core processor is the F series. :)
So yea, you need to look at HP,Lenovo,Dell alternatives.

The EF doesn't have a quad core either.

    New EF :
Laptops, Notebooks - Computers Vaio | Sony | Sony Style Canada
not much to say on the website

The 2 other alternative im looking is the HP with their Envy (waiting for the next envy 14") and Macbook pro.

It's sad because one year before i was about to buy the Serie F

So their will be no new serie of VAIO ? (other then F/C/S) ?

EF comes with AMD processors (dual core )

I think you could take a look at the new F. It has a high quality screen, i7 2820 qm for desktop like performance and a decent GPU.

Hmm, I never took Sony to be a major player in the mid-range laptop market, where that be price or screen size for that matter. Sony's been famous for their gigantic AW series and similar or their small ultraportable powerhouses in the TT/TZ/SZ/Z series. And they charge a ton for them, because they simply offer what no other company offers. Also, the EF series is a 17.3" laptop. For your requirements, either get the F-series, or just a really good i7 dual-core... at least the batt life will be better and it'll perform most tasks at the same or even faster (that is if the process is not multithreaded)
