Everytime I install it, it says complete but nothing has actually installed.
I tried version 2.1. didn't work.
Tried version 2.7, it can capture photos fine but always gives me an error message when I try to record video saying that my device is in use although there isn't any program that's using it. not even msn messenger is running.
Someone please give me a link for to a working version of this utility.
I have just recovered from a fresh format.

yoyoyo. i had a similar problem with the program saying that another program was using it. there is a fix from microsoft to resolve this issue. hope that helps. it should be on the sony esupport site.

Definately should be listed there, heres a link to the kb article about the update:
http://support.microsoft.com/kb/931812
if you still have problems with it uninstall and delete the camera driver then disable user account control. goto vaio recovery centre and in the options choose create support folders then in device manager right click your camera - probably usb video device or similar - click update and choose not to go online. Say you have the disk and browse to c:\vaio applications\drivers\camera.
Once the original driver is installed again try installing the updated camera capture utility again.
When all is done you can turn on user account control again if you really want to
