    I installed Vista business on my SZ160. I went to the sony download page and downloaded and installed all vista drivers having to do with the webcam but it is not showing up. Can anyone tell me exactly which files I need to download and install to get the webcam working? Thanks in advance.

    What do you mean by its not showing up? Is there a driver in device manager?

    The webcam does not show up under device manager. I installed the camera driver and camera filter but no luck. There are downloads foe "various vaio devices I think it's called. Do I have to install them first? I don't want extra vaio software I don't need.

    I'm having the exact same problem, followed the steps listed on Sony's site and drive utility program fails in Windows Vista.

    After installing the camera utility and camera capture utility (both Vista programs) plus the XP driver for your camera, the following registry entries will make the camera show up in My Computer.

    Code:

    Windows Registry Editor Version 5.00

    [HKEY_CLASSES_ROOT\CLSID\{FD4DF9E0-E3DE-11CE-BFCF-A1B2C3D415D6}]
    @="Sony Visual Communication Camera VGP-VCC2"

    [HKEY_CLASSES_ROOT\CLSID\{FD4DF9E0-E3DE-11CE-BFCF-A1B2C3D415D6}\DefaultIcon]
    @="c:\\windows\\system32\\wiadefui.dll,4"

    [HKEY_CLASSES_ROOT\CLSID\{FD4DF9E0-E3DE-11CE-BFCF-A1B2C3D415D6}\InProcServer32]
    @="shell32.dll"
    "ThreadingModel"="Apartment"

    [HKEY_CLASSES_ROOT\CLSID\{FD4DF9E0-E3DE-11CE-BFCF-A1B2C3D415D6}\Shell]

    [HKEY_CLASSES_ROOT\CLSID\{FD4DF9E0-E3DE-11CE-BFCF-A1B2C3D415D6}\Shell\Open My Menu]

    [HKEY_CLASSES_ROOT\CLSID\{FD4DF9E0-E3DE-11CE-BFCF-A1B2C3D415D6}\Shell\Open My Menu\Command]
    @="\"C:\\Program Files\\Sony\\Vaio Camera Capture Utility\\VaioCameraCaptureUtility.exe\""

    [HKEY_CLASSES_ROOT\CLSID\{FD4DF9E0-E3DE-11CE-BFCF-A1B2C3D415D6}\ShellEx]

    [HKEY_CLASSES_ROOT\CLSID\{FD4DF9E0-E3DE-11CE-BFCF-A1B2C3D415D6}\ShellEx\PropertySheetHandlers]

    [HKEY_CLASSES_ROOT\CLSID\{FD4DF9E0-E3DE-11CE-BFCF-A1B2C3D415D6}\ShellEx\PropertySheetHandlers\{FD4DF9E0-E3DE-11CE-BFCF-A1B2C3D415D6}]

    [HKEY_CLASSES_ROOT\CLSID\{FD4DF9E0-E3DE-11CE-BFCF-A1B2C3D415D6}\ShellFolder]
    "Attributes"=hex:00,00,00,00

    [HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\Microsoft\Windows\CurrentVersion\explorer\MyComputer\NameSpace\{FD4DF9E0-E3DE-11CE-BFCF-A1B2C3D415D6}]

    Copy and paste the above entries to a text file and rename it with the .reg extension, double click to get theinfo into the registry.

    Sony states, in the materials included with the Vista Upgrade (no idea if you all received this or not, or if you found and purchased your own copy of vista), that the camera utility is not working with Vista yet, and that you should occasionally check back on the Sony website for updates.

    They do say that the camera will still work with Yahoo IM, MSN Messenger, etc. I tried it on Yahoo IM just to see if it would kick on, and it definitely did for me. I can't use it directly as I could in XP though.

    I use the camera utility and camera capture utility for the SZ450N which requires the model.txt trick. There is a recent update for the capture utility.

    Actually, I install these using SZ450N desktop utility package which installs about 8 programs at once. Makes for a nice clean Vista install and all the Fn keys and buttons work.
