I just purchased a Vaio F 3D last week, it’s all set to arrive on Wednesday. I’m getting my list together of accessories I’d like to purchase and one of them is a car charger. I’ve looked around the internet and have come up empty on vehicle adaptors. Is there any place online I can get a Sony OEM vehicle charger? I’ve had terrible luck with after market power accessories in the past and refuse to use anything aftermarket. I’ll pay $100 or more for an official Sony OEM charger if I can find one.

I don't think Sony or any other notebook manufacturer has ever made a car charger, since notebooks are meant to be used at a stationary position, not while driving (unless you're a taxi driver of course, but I don't see taxi drivers using VAIO F's). Just buy another power cord and connect it to a 2/3 pin adapter for a car, that should do the trick.

Both HP and Dell have had them for quite some time now. Panasonic should have them too since their Toughbooks are used in law enforcement vehicles and such.

I know I could use a power inverter, but I'd rather use something official and something that was designed for this type of use that wouldn't damage the laptop or blow a fuse in a car.

Sorry for my above comment, I didn't realise other manufacturers had it, thanks for that bit of knowledge :D

Using a power inverter is probably your best option though. I'm still pretty sure Sony never came out with one of those, so you don't really have other options than that. I don't think it will affect your damage your laptop, given you find a power inverter of good quality. Just replace the fuse with a better one if it does blow.

DC to AC converter is what you need. Plug it into your cig lighter and it will give you the standard outlet found in our homes (U.S.) Only issue is that you need to purchase one with that has a high enough wattage to support your F. The one I use in my car unfortunately is the size of a brick and has an internal fan that you can hear. It does work though, can even hook up a microwave to it if I wanted to. Been using it for over a year, on my Scion TC.

I went with the Targus APV12US1 Power Inverter (Includes 2 AC plugs that supplies 120V, with 150W of continuous and 180W of peak power..) for my VPCZ1290X series laptop.. Make sure you have a very good car batter (I went with the DieHard Platinum edition)..
