Carbon Fiber (Mesh) Black (VPC-SA)

Anyone got the SA with Carbon Fiber Black (Mesh texture) and can tell the pros cons compared to the regular black ones.

Like this one Signature Collection Core i7 Laptop | VAIO S Series 13.3" Signature Laptop | VPCSA3SGX/X | Sony USA.

 

I'm wondering the same thing. Even though I have the SA in silver.

 

^^ lol, same here! I considered applying 3M carbon fiber skin a while back (when carbon fiber was popular earlier this year for desktop computer mods).

 

I have the silver one aswell. Do they make any lid covers type accessories for this laptop ?

 

bump - I'm about to buy this model and was wondering the same thing - i love carbon fiber and even have a carbon fiber wallet

 

I can sense that the SA will soon dominate the 13" market, with its own Rules of Power.

Its delivering & promissing.

 

I have the standard black but my opinion:
Pros:
. show the world your computer have a CF lid.

Cons:
. a bit pricier (when I bought my SA anyway).

Even on the normal black lid it'd possible to see the CF weave. It's just painted over...

 

I've been trying to search for actual user taken photographs of the Carbon Mesh design but haven't been able to find any... does anyone know where I can find this?

My own isn't arriving until next week.

i got the mesh about a week ago here's some pictures

 

I just took a bunch of pictures, but the connection I'm on right now is so unreliable I'm not even able to upload them anywhere...

The mesh pattern is very faint, but in some angles it appears very strongly. It's very hard to justify it in pictures as it changes from different angles. Pictures will follow eventually.

Can someone please show me the laptop from the front side? Eg. With the keyboard and screen?

Also, is there a real texture to the laptop? Also, is the carbon mesh only on the top of the lid, no where else?

Finally, is it worth the extra $50 for the carbon mesh add on here in Canada?

The pattern is purely cosmetic, no texture to it. I'm not sure, but I believe someone said the other versions also have carbon fibre lids, only it's been painted over.

The pattern is only on the lid, the rest of the laptop is a solid deep black.

Whether it's worth the extra $50 is up to you, it's purely about having a laptop that looks a bit different from the general silver/black crowd. I personally like it, but then, I didn't have to pay for it (work laptop).

I dont see Carbon Fiber as an option for the SA CTO....just Jet Black and Platinum Silver.

I have the standard carbon black and looking closely at the lid the CF weave pattern is visible. No distinguishable texture but real carbon fiber composites shouldn't have any (it would indicate bad coverage).

It's most likely that the mesh variant just uses a clearcoat layer instead of a paint layer.

 

I just applied white carbon fiber print onto my Silver SA, lol. Covers up some wristrest wear

Ah, I'll make sure to do so. It's just in the wrist area, sort of like a very bad version of the Vaio F2 metal strip (which is neat, IMO).
