Yes that would work. But yes the cross over cable would be the quickest.

Crossover would be quickest. Over a WIRED lan would probably be just as quick. I use a wireless LAN myself to transfer stuff and just let it sit overnight....

yeh iv got a wireless network at my house, but from previous experiences i remember it being damn slow!... So i think cross over is probably going to be my quickest route.

would this be the right stuff? > http://cgi.ebay.co.uk/ws/eBayISAPI....m=110191121642&ssPageName=STRK:MEWA:IT&ih=001

How would i do this from xp>>vista via cross over cable ? do they come up in the explorer or should i use the file transfer wizard under xp?

From past experience I can say fastest isnt always best. My hd failed at a lan when trying to get about 100gb of files from other comp with about 1gb/s. It was like a "crash n burn". Left me without a hd with everything lost. Just my 2c

I wiped Vista off my TZ130 and replaced it with Ubuntu. I still need XP, though, so I use VMWare Server. It's taken me a while to get the virtual machines right, and in the process I moved several VMs from my desktop to my TZ and back. Some of these were 45GB, although the current on is only 22 (leaves me with 54GB free on the TZ when all is said and done.)s

I found that it was faster for me to use an external USB hard drive as an intermediate stage than to use wired or wireless network. I also didn't mind that I got an archive copy of the VMs as a side benefit.

i think il probably get a cheap cat5 cross over cable from ebay and check it out. If it dont work i think il just try over the wireless LAN.
