I'm trying to decide between a S380 and a FS570 to work about 2 months a year running pairing software at golf tournaments. The software would be Access/Excel based with additional word processing, some surfing and perhaps watching a movie at night.

I like the look of the S380(with XBrite display), but I'm afraid that the screen will be too small for spreadsheet-like tournament format. Anybody that runs similar software have an opinion? I love the hard drive speed, the DDR2 chip, the portability and the upgraded wireless card. I am also worried about the noise of the fan that so many have complained about. How loud is it??

I like the size of the FS570 screen, but I'm disappointed in the slow hard drive and the lack of DDR2 chips. Are there any other drawbacks to this machine that I should be aware of??

I'm not very adept at changing out boards, so what I buy is what I will have. Any ideas?? Thanks in advance for your help.

noise its comparable to 3500/4000 rpm Desktop PC. In starbucks you may not have any problem, but at night, watching a DVD movie its really messy...

I had a S260 1.8ghz/512/80gb and return it for 2 dead pixels... now i'm waiting for T series... ofcourse... you may need a bigger screen...

I own the FS and can say that I am still in love with the thing. I've had zero problems (knock on wood). No dead pixels, I can barely notice the fan (comes on once every ten minutes for like 15 seconds and is barely audible). I've had no problems with the wireless. The machine is plenty fast enough for my needs, although I'm often remorseful that I didn't go with the NVidia card. If I had, I would probably not be using my desktop at all, even for gaming. The only minor gripe is that the battery life is short. (2 hours if you are cautious) I have a feeling that Sony is not using the latest battery technology in this thing. If you are going to be heavily on-the-go, you need either an extra battery, or the bigger battery. Sony reams its customers for batteries, so you may want to factor that into your purchase. The screen on this thing is phenomenal as is the overall build quality.
