I bought a VGN-AR590E from SonyStyle.com for $3,299.99. I purchased a 3 year on site service plan plus accidental handling damage.

So far so good. I think it is a great laptop.

I will take some pictures of the laptop and the accessories and post them.

If you want to hook this up to a TV and watch BD movies, the TV must have a High-bandwidth Digital Content Protection (HDCP) compliant HDMI connection. An external computer monitor must also be HDCP compliant for BD movies to play. If you watch a BD movie through the HDMI connection, you can't have the laptop display on simultaneously.

I have confirmed that PowerDVD Ultra works on this model with Blu-Ray disks. There are some advantages to this, like AnyDVD will not work with the Sony version of WinDVD included with the laptop, but works with PowerDVD Ultra and Blu-Ray disks.

I bought mine at a Sony Style store with free 3yr "accidents covered" in home warranty when you also buy any mouse (I needed bluetooth, $70) and any case (for me neoprene, $25 ). They are the only store near me that actually has it on display to look at, too. So far so good.

No owner's manual for the specific model included! A generic AR series one is in memory and on line but it knows nothing about the very special features of this top model (supplied AMD Cablecard digital cable HDTV tuner box and BluRay recording drive, for example). Has anyone found a manual that specifically addresses this model?

After updating the loaded Windows Vista Home Premium and the the Vaio itself, I noticed one of the recent updates referred to "improves SD card reader functionality". I wondered if that meant it can also read the new "SDHC" cards needed for some new cameras, for example the Canon TX1 when used as a HD video camera. I called the dedicated technical help number (888-4SONYPC) and neither the guy that answered nor his supervisor knew the answer, nor offered to find out and get back to me. So if you can't ask the manufacturer, who can you ask?! Anyone have one to try? Thanks! 8GB Memory stick Pro Duo I can confirm works with a maximum file size limitation of 4 GB I believe. My Best Buy store price matched their own on-line price of $152.99, should anyone care.
