Does anybody know where the settings of the fan's silent mode are saved?
I think they are not saved properly when you change it in Vaio Control Center.

My SR's fan is running nearly permanently though I'm only surfing, Office-ing, etc....

I have the newest european SR5 with Win7, bought yesterday.

    Any ideas?

marky111, i think it is most likely to be in the program data folder which you should find in your C drive.
    May be here
    ProgramData\Sony Corporation\Setting Utility Series\VPMXML
    and
    ProgramData\Sony Corporation\VAIO Power Management\SPMPowercfg.xml

Also, look in the program files power management.

If you cannot see the program data files it might be hidden on your computer and you need to unhide it. Google will inform you how to do that if you need help.

Thanks. I've looked into the files and found the following:

    1. func.xml:

    2. PMPowercfg.xml

Does anybody understand that? Both files do not change when i change from silent to speed mode and back....
Any suggestions what to change in order to lower fan speed?

marky111, i moved your post for you to the general forum from the SR owners lounge as other Sony owners might have some input about this. The newest releases share a similar type of setup. You can possibly cause damage to your notebook by doing this. It is just something to keep in mind. This all might be set by the BIOS so you might not have luck altering the settings.
