I am in the process of completing a clean install of XP Pro on my new SZ160. I have a couple of problems that I am hoping others have worked through.

First, I can't seem to figure out what software applies the Drive Icon to the memory stick. Any hints.

Also, the power management software isn't on sonys site. Is everyone just using the software from the Restore Disks?

Finally, the wireless is behaving badly (crashing my roiuter when it connects) Has anyone else had this behavior? Is it because I didn't install the "SmartWi" software? I assumed it was optional. THis could just be my router not wanting to work with this new wireless chip though.

Any thoughts you all have would help me out...thanks.

I can't really help, just a few observations.....

I have this problem as well.

I think the SmartWi is related to the Cingular EDGE connection, so this is unlikely to be the problem. I did not install it and my wirless works fine. I used the wireless software from Intel's site rather than the Sony version.

Yeah, I installed the Sony Wireless driver first and then uninstalled it and installed the Intel one. I think some leftovers may be in there from the sony package.

For now, I am considering this a dry run and will probably start over again. I did figure out that I don't need the Trusted Computing stuff to get the fingerprint reader to work. Just the fingerprint driver and utilitys seem to give all the login functionality.

Extract the attached snymsico.dll file (inside the zip) to C:\windows and reboot. The MS icon should show up again.

Beautiful. Thanks. That fixed my icon.

Wireless problem went away when I swapped my bleeding edge Netgear Mimo router for my old trusty G router.
