    Hello,

Have a new SZ750 and want to Clean Install a Retail Copy of Vista. There are no Vista Drivers posted on the Sony Support Site yet.
Anyone know when Vista drivers may be available for the new SZ7's ?

U can use the driver of SZ6xx series at Sony us site, SZ6 & 7 is same HW except bluetooth device , SZ7 is a Broardcom not Toshiba stack as SZ6. But I think BT driver can easy find on the web
Ps: I use the SZ 670 XP backup for SZ770 with no problem at all !

Yes I also have a SZ650 and tried to use those drivers but apparantly they are model specific as I get the 'this update is not intended for your model' message when trying to install.

You can extract the files with universal extractor.
Simply not start the model checking part of the driver...

If I get universal extractor is the 'model checker' part of the driver apparant ? Being a relative novice I probably stumble all over the extraction process !

If u have SZ650 with Visa clean install, backup it by Acronis True Image (also have in hiren boot) and then restore on SZ7. Try it now or waiting Sony update Vista driver for download.

Hey I have a question on sz750. Does it have a shiny vaio logo outside like 691 and 791, or is it same as the 650? Thanks!

    Hardcore,

I looked into those drivers.I know how to open the zipped file but how does one know which part of the extracted file opens and runs the program?..Any help would be appreciated.

For most of the utilities, it will be an .EXE file called SETUP.EXE or similar. For the drivers without an .EXE intaller, if you know the device in the device manager, you can just run the "update driver" routine and point the driver update to the folder you extracted the drivers to.

I have a brand new VGN-SZ750N with Vista Business pre-installed. I created the recovery DVDs, then wiped the hdd. For some reason Acronis Disk Director doesn't see the HDD (Vista Ultimate setup, older Partition Magic, and WinXP see it). Anyhow, when I run the retail Vista Ultimate setup, I can manage/create partitions as part of the install, but the install doesn't copy the files to the hdd, and fails after sitting at 0% for a few minutes.

Any ideas? I was able to do a clean install of XP with no problems. Not sure why Acronis Disk Director can't see the partitions on the HDD (True Image CAN see the partitions though) and why Vista Ultimate setup fails.

    Thanks for any suggestions...

Give universal extractor a try. You will see model check exe in main folder and a folder inside the main folder that is the real driver folder.
