There has been a lot of threads out there between the different ways to wipe your Sony Vaio of its bloatware to speed it up.

Does anybody know which way is the best? Sony Support Site is nortorious for their ability to not stock their own drivers so what way is best to make sure the Vaio is exactly from factory minus the bloatware?

Also, has anybody tried the companion DVD on the SZ models? Do they actually have all the necessary drivers in the DVD? Or is it just Vista?

    Thoughts?

A clean install is always the best.

If you are worried about drivers, you can extract all the drivers from your current installation and use them on your new one.

How? If so, why do so many people use the Sony support site in vain? And why the many routes to the cleansing of Vaio computers?

I am so confused or just stupid or both.

There are a few programs that can extract drivers. I've never bothered to do it personally, so I don't have any to recommend. Google should give you some options, if someone doesn't post here to give you a recommendation.

For the Average Joe, downloading the drivers is normally an easier task.

There are also so many routes of "cleaning" a Vaio because of people's limitations, or lack there of. Basically, for those who don't have access to a Vista DVD, a semi-clean restore works wonders. For those that do, a clean install is always best.
