So my brother tried to use the recovery discs to bring his laptop to factory conditions but the process failed because of a damaged disc. This left him with an unbootable laptop. I won't be able to help him for around two weeks because I'm on vacation and would like to know if a windows 8 dvd would be enough to fix the problem by reinstalling windows. My only doubt is about the product key. I've read that Windows 8 keys for most laptops come embedded in the BIOS/Motherboard so the key would be installed automatically. Is that true or would I need to find a method to retrieve the key? The model of the laptop is SVE14A390X. Thank you
