I have PCG-TR3A that I am trying to clean up for my girlfriend's mom.

I have used the Recovery Wizard to get it back to factory settings. It has been updated with XP SP2 and all that.

Is it a good idea to get the updated drivers and software from the Sony site?

No, don't bother. They usually cause more harm than good; a lot of people are even reporting that many of the updates listed on their product's support page aren't even for their model.

well actually it is always a good idea to get the latest drivers for stability and compatibility purposes, and if you are running the latest & greatest. :)

however, if you are using the computer for "light weight" stuff without any problem, you might want to leave it as it is.
