The touchpad is starting to make a popping noise when I apply pressure onto it. Not too much pressure but just slight taps will make the touchpad flex and pop. The popping noise just sounds like when someone presses the right or left mouse buttons.
Any ideas on what is causing this or what is the fix for this?

Also, there seems to be a clicking noise intermittently somewhere inside the laptop. I'm not sure where it is coming from but I suspect it to be somewhere around the area where I place my left hand/palm. Any ideas on this one?

    Thanks!

not sure about the popping noise, but i believe the clicking noise is the hard drive. I have the same sound on my SZ150...

Is the clicking of the hard drive a sign of something? I hope its not dying on me.... As for the popping it is still here on the touchpad. It is right in the middle and all the way to the top. If you press it, the touchpad seems to flex and bend a bit.

There's a thread here about how to fix the clicking noise when you press on the trackpad.
You need to open the SZ (very simply) and apply a bit of padding tape underneath the trackpad.

it does the same on mine too.

If your hard drive starts clicking, it's a *very* bad sign

do the clicks happen when the harddrive access light goes on? And are they relatively muted clicks? If so, i would say that's normal. Every laptop I've ever had does that. Never had any problems (knock on wood).

The clicks don't happen when the hard drive light flickers. It just clicks whenever it wants. I don't know what other way to explain it. Is this a sign of a prematurely failing hard drive?

    thanks

hard drive brush is probably absent or destroyed. Backup your data and (1) exchange your SZ if possible; or (2) use your warranty to get it fixed; or (3) replace the hard drive your self (there are threads here on how to do this).

    good luck!
