Comments on the FS830W build quality?

can anyone put their input in for how well this model is built? Its on clearance for $1200cdn right now.

Does it have a magnesium alloy chasis? Does the keyboard flex? Are the keys like the ones on apples? Ultra flat and thin.

 

I looked at the same model seeing the price and was amazed. Keys arent like apple's, not magnesium, keyboard has some flex. I went with the SZ instead even though the FE was the next version of the FS.

I recommend you get FE or SZ...forget FS. Though I have answered what you asked.

No, not anyway near a Toshiba. I suggested that you get the FE as it features the latest things in the market, like the Duo Core. That way you can be guaranteed for the future, like Windows Vista, a better video card etc.

 

Well i dont need duo core. The only reason i was interested in this model is cayuse its $1200cdn right now on clearance in canada.

But it sounds like it has a very plasticky feel to it.

 

Well I saw it at the Sony Store, and it feels perfectly fine. I used it for a while, performs well and the build is pretty good. I would pass by the Sony Store near your house and take a loog. Btw Im in Canada aswell.

Compared to Asus, pretty darn good competitor. Its a good notebook on the whole, an amazing screen too .

Maybe so. But the Duo Core would own the Pentium M in several areas. Some Acer's are really nice too look at. I cant know about the LCD seeing that I love the one from my HP aswell.

 

Acers are nice i agree. but i would be embarassed being seen with an acer lol. plus the build.....

 

Embarrased using an Acer? I wouldnt take this thread to the Acer section ever. Acer's are great, I know some are ugly, and well I personally prefer Sony's aswell due to competition they have with Apple in terms of looks.

 

90% of ppl who buy a vaio is for the looks and to get attention. I guess i shouldnt be embarassed if i were to bring an acer to work of about 50 ppl eh? while everyone else has IBMs, dells, toshibas.

 

Well if its about work, and style, buy a FE and everyone will be like . Dell's and Toshiba's have no comparison look wise to a Sony or Acer for that matter, dont stress, but Duo Core is always good.
