I suggest using the Toshiba Virtual Sound program, which Private-Cowboy mentioned earlier. It will definitely improve your sound, try it!

Read here for complete instructions and see the attached pic to see my settings and how the program looks like.

Be really careful with this! I used it on my Dell and it was outstanding, but I tried it with the Sony and not only did it not work, it uninstalled all of my video codecs and sound drivers when I tried to remove it. It was such a pain trying to get everything back the way it was I ended up having to reformat. Make sure to create a restore point right before you do it, if you do.

I've not seen that. I uninstalled and resintalled it several time to see if I can force that effect but nothing happened. Works perfectly on the Samsung NV5000 of my wife with ESS Allegro and my SZ2 with SigmaTel HD. No idea what caused you problem. But can't you use system restore to go back to a point before the installation?

System restore didn't work for me. Not sure why I even said that above..thought about it after the fact. But probably a good idea to try to create a restore point before you install anyway. When I did try to roll it back to a day or so before I had installed the TVS, it rolled back, but didn't give me back any of the drivers or codecs...I was also missing a few startup items. Not knowing how to get them back in manually I just reformatted. I'd really like to try it again though, but am afraid to. It gives a big boost in audio volume, which I seem to reeeally need with the AR. When I did have it installed, the tray icon appeared, I was able to open the program and make adjustments, but I got no sound at all. When I tried to play something in WMP or any other program a notice came up saying that no sound driver was installed. Any ideas?

Edit: Also Private-cowboy...i'm thinking of trying again anyway...which is the absolute latest version? When I open the laptop to go page that you linked to, is the "download 462kb" that latest version. After reading some of the posts some people mentioned that the latest versions fixed the uninstall issue. I think I have the same chip as you do in the SZ...I can't understand why we had such different experiences.
