Hey, I'm going to order the TZ90 and figured that conics' and pricejapan's price is much lower than dynamisms' . Does anyone has experience with either of them (reliability etc.) ?

Dynamism does price matching. Have you tried them?

With the same specs, there was a difference about $500. But I gotta keep in mind I'm buying a $3000 laptop, so that reputation plays its role, that's why I wonder if anybody has ordered their vaio from conics ...

I'm in the same boat here as well. Debating between pricejapan, conics and dynamism........just short of price, who will actually stand behind their warranty.

Dyn seems to cover both shipping back and FORTH via fedex intl for the entire 3 year period. Still doing homework on the other 2 vendors.

Can anyone confirm if Dynamism really matches prices? I emailed them but haven't heard back yet.

Same here! I decided to take TZ but even if i was convinced from pricejapan.com the conics.net will send you TZ for the same price with an English OS.
Anyone that already ordered from conics.net?

Guys, I googled conics.net for reviews... didn't get anything. Does anyone know how are they rated/did they have a different name before/etc.? Has anyone actually bought anything from them in the past?

I have been negotiating price with Dynamism - they will come down but not match the prices of conics - at this point shipped the difference is $334, though they don't charge to use a credit card.

I haven't decided whether that differnece is worth using a credit card and the warranty service of dynamism.

Thats not a bad price. If you ever need to get warranty service, shipping to and from japan is $200 right there.

I agree its not a bad price; just not sure how much I want to bet on a warranty issue propping up (in all my years I have never had warranty service on any electronic product except one video camera that had an unfortunate fall in a river)

I agree, if you're buying a ~$3000 machine you don't really expect it to break down within the first year or so. On the other hand, when you do pay as much (which is quite a lot), you should get a $3000 treatment...

Seems like that. But is it trustfull conics? At least from pricejapan we know that they are serious from other guys that took TZ from there. Big pro of conics that they install english OS.
Since yesterday i mail conics but no response!

Hmm... I ordered the 100GB/DVD Sony TZ from Dynamism yesterday for $2,649.00. I see that I can configure a machine with identical specs from conics.net for $2,259.39. Shipping's roughly the same ($7 less from Conics), and I can pay by PayPal, so no 3.5-3.9% credit card fees.

Dynamism refers to their price match policy on every "pricing" page: "Value – Dynamism’s TruePrice and pricematch policies guarantee you the best value." However, there's no further explanation of that anywhere that I could find. I'll be calling them at 10a EDT when they open to ask.

By the way, conics.net charges a much more reasonable $161.50 for the 2GB RAM upgrade, compared to Dynamism's $299.00! However, I'd already ordered a 2GB SODIMM from Crucial at $139 plus tax & shipping--still cheaper than conics.net and you get to sell the 1 GB that comes in the machine, probably for at least $50 on eBay.

you should've checked out the hot ram deal thread, they have 1 stick of a 2GB RAM for notebooks for $88 at ewiz.com. I wish I would've seen it before ordering mine. Changing RAM on this laptop would take about 30 sec. altogether.

Yeah, I wish I'd looked into it, but I'm also real picky about RAM, so I probably would've gone with the Crucial anyway. Never had a problem with it, and I can't say that about all the RAM in my life...

The guys at Dynamism confirmed to me that it's PC-5300, so yes. However, both the U7500 and U7600 are 533 MHz FSB, so you should be able to use PC-4200 as well, but they're priced pretty much the same.

I will say this... I ordered the computer through Dynamism and the memory from Crucial yesterday, and the memory just arrived, despite the fact that I only paid $2.99 for the normal 3-5 day shipping, and it came to Florida from Idaho! Even more surprisingly, the computer shipped today and should arrive tomorrow. I can't complain about the speed of service.

leviathan - which stick did you get. I'm l a little confuse by which memory this laptop takes. In partiuclar, it is a 200 pin SODIMM slot and not 240 pin DIMM slot, correct?

According to Dynamism, it comes with DDR2 PC2-5300 (667 MHz). The U7500 and U7600 processors are only 533 MHz FSB, so technically, you should be able to get away with PC2-4200 as well. However, they're pretty much the same price these days.

    I bought this:
    http://www.crucial.com/store/partspecs.aspx?imodule=CT25664AC667

But you might also check Froogle for lower prices on it, which I just also belatedly did:
    http://www.google.com/products?q=CT25664AC667

( Computer Brain has it for $119--I've bought stuff from them before, and found them to be fast and reliable.)

Thanks much. Not all that much cheaper than the $161 it costs when buying from conics.net or the $170 i got dynamism down to - but its still cash.

Yes, keep in mind that the FSB is 533 so even if the RAM is set to 667, it will revert back to 533. so either one is fine. its 200 pin, not 240.

Plus you can sell the one that comes in the computer, so it's functionally around a $70 upgrade vice $170.

I just placed my order with conics (32gb ssd/dvd, 1gb ram to be upgraded when I get it, vista home premium english os). I'll let you know how it goes buit so far Brett has been very responsive.
FYI, because of 0% apr on my credit card through march and a better exchange rate than paypal offers it was cheaper to pay the extra 3.5% and pay by credit card.

Now I just need to find the best value 2gb ram.

Good choice avalpert. So at conics they do the install of EN Vista?
How many of you guys took a damaged item from a shipping?Just to know if is worth to undervalue the TZ so i skip big part of the VAT.

We chosen the same specs. What about the colour and the battery? I was quite ordering TZ from pricejapan but reading here that in the same price the conics has english OS i changed my mind.

How soon do you think that it will arrive?

I ordered mine this past Monday...or Tuesday Japanese time. I didn't get an actual E.T.A ....he just said minimum wait 2 weeks. I've been hearing lately though from the conics.net people that alot of orders got delayed for some reason.

I realllllly need it before July though... i'm hoping i'll get it soon :(

    Congrats avalpert,

I'm waiting mine from conics, ordered it 4/7. What specs you took?

I went for the UPS shipping because the EMS makes two weeks to ship in Europe (and is more likely that you will pay VAT). With UPS in 2-3 days i will have it. :)

I am currently working to clean it up, though they didn't install most of the program and instead left the install files for me to decide.

English Vista is already installed - it takes about 7.5 gb and in total I have 18gb left on the disk. That include about 1.25gb for teh backup versions of the drivers and pplications which I am moving to an external drive and what appears to be ~3gb in a hidden partition that I will deal with next.

Haven't tested battery life yet. Sof ar, I like the machine.
