I have a VGN-SZ340. I've had it for a couple months now, and it works great. The only trouble is, I can't get it to connect to my HDTV. My brothers HP DV1000 can connect to the TV, but mine can't. Using the same VGA cable.

I have a friend who owns an FS series I think, and he too can not hook up to an external monitor source. Is there something I'm missing?

I used the FN F7 key, didn't work. so then I tried changing it manually in the graphics settings, still nothing. The TV I'm using is a 50" Samsung DLP TV.

    TIA.

Tell us step by step what you're doing to achieve said connection. Have you tried updating your video card's drivers?

No I haven't updated, maybe that's the problem. Where do I go to update?

If it still doesn't work after the update, I'll give a step-by-step on what I'm doing.

    Thanks.

Go to esupport.sony.com and you can get the latest "official" drivers from there.

There are unofficial drivers available elsewhere.

finally got it to work. for future reference, if other vaio users are having this problem, this is what i did.

1.) Hit FN+F7 twice (when set-up is highlighted)
2.) Hit enter to bring up set-up screen.
3.) Uncheck all boxes, and close setup screen.
4.) Return to setup screen and check all boxes again.
5.) Connect VGA cable from laptop to TV, and select 'VGA monitor'
