    Hello People,

If you are one of those customers whose Vaio F series Fan is on most of the times even if are just browsing , please do post here. It would also be useful if you figure out any specific usage pattern that might turn it off/on.

I would like to know if this issue is common to the entire F series or some defective model . Thank you for your help

Sorry to hear that. can you just exchange it? I just received mine from Sonystyle and while it's not bogged down with new software installation, the fans do not kick in often. In fact, it's running pretty silent. Surfing the web, streaming a movie, or working in autoCAD.

Thank you for your replies. That really puts things in perspective, atleast glad to know that it's not a fault with the entire F series . Thanks, i ll consider exchanging it.

this is an old thread but i just stumbled upon it cause my vaio f13 has this issue. the fan will literally speed up if i scroll fast down the screen or when opening new windows, playing video etc. its quit annoying and ruins the enjoyment of my laptop. love the look, feel, speed, back lit keys. but this fan is whirring away up and down up and down and when it slows it makes a whistling sound. in fact as i'm typing the the fan speeds up. ridiculous!!! this thing is going back.

I encourage you to read through this thread:
    http://forum.notebookreview.com/son...-series-i5-i7-owners-thread-part-5-a-203.html

The fan noise issue has been discussed ad nauseum throught all 5 of the VAIO F owners threads. It's pretty much the nature of a single fan laptop that keeps amazingly cool despite the i7 processor inside.

Things to know. What is your machine model number and specs? Have you clean installed? There can be plenty of stuff running in the background that will make the fan kick in when you actually do something.

Before you post any comments in that thread about the FAN noise, please read up on it as it has been brought up a bazillion times and there is no solution. Well, make sure there's no dust buildup around the fan too. :D
