I looked at the forum for Sony specs but there doesn't appear to be a clickable so asking for help. If you don't have a model no. etc that Sony wants to recognize is there a way to talk to a Sony tech without staying on the telephone at your own expense for 30 minutes? (I gave up and hung up) I have Model no of PCG 71312L (unknown to Sony) a Service tag of C60446M1, I don't find anywhere to put the latter into a search box on the Sony site. I would appreciate any help on this. I would like to know what components the VAIO was sold with, etc. :(

If you can power on your laptop, go to BIOS and you will know what your laptop model number (VPCxxxx) is.
Look at the manufacturer part number, I believe your laptop is VPCEB series.

I'm not working with a complete laptop, just parts. If I can find the correct number, I can list the screen correctly. The hard drive has been formatted, so I can't look for information there.

There is no information on hard drive about laptop model.
It is in motherboard. If you can power it up, go to bios and you will see it.

Thanks all for the starting points. Still not totally sure of the model no. but will sell the remaining parts with that caveat. It had a working 320G hard drive but the friend who checked it said that it had been wiped.
