I've had my SR for over a month now.
A few days in, I notice a little imperfection on the left palmrest of my SR. It was hardly noticible, nothing more than 0.5mm in size, and could not be seen except from a certain angle under certain lightings. So I let it pass. I honestly do not think that this was cause my handling of the machine, and that it probably was already there when I bought it.
Today, the little imperfection is a 4cm by 1cm big patch. Still only noticible under certain angles and lighting conditions, but it annoys the hell out of me.![]()
I'm worried that it will continue to grow. I suspect that it was a little imperfection on the integrity of the material, and over time the skin acid attacked that area and caused the larger scar.
I probably don't have a cause of action against Sony, seeing how I am already 1 month into this machine, and that the warranty doesn't cover cosmetic defects.
This post is really pointless. But I just want to express my sadness.
Check for every inperfection before you accept the machine when you purchase it!

Did you notice it on the first couple of days when you had received it? If it wasn't that noticeable until a few days later, then maybe the plastic used on your laptop "wore" in and showed the defect. Sometimes you can't always see the imperfections until they wear in. It happens. @_@

Yep thats the case. But there isn't anything I can do about now yea? I don't think Sony, being such a big powerful company, would willingly take liability for a such a defect!

Hmmm.... I see. That is very odd. I have yet to see anything like that.... but then again, I type oddly. My wrists are always above the palmrests.... they aren't really all that restful for me. xD
Hmm, I'm not sure. If there are going to be more people reporting anything like this, then they may take responsibility, otherwise for now, they'll claim customer fault most likely. D: -
Just wondering, would it hurt to actually phone Sony and ask?
Or if your worried about your phone bill, send an E-mail.
There is a nice saying in German: "Fragen kostet nichts."
-> Asking costs nothing.
So just ask, what can you lose by doing that? -
Hmm, it wouldn't hurt.... It's not going to kill your warranty or anything though, as it wasn't caused due to something that would break a warranty.
I definitely wouldn't think it would hurt to contact Sony and inquire about the problem that you are seeing... Who knows, they may actually fix it.
