Hi everyone. It's my first post to this forum. It's very good helping each other.

My problem is about Sony Vaio Update Application. 6 months ago, it worked fine, but now when i clicked to update button, i get error message from Vaio Update. It's "Could not acquire the information." than Internet explorer was opening and connecting to Vaio Update Web Site. It's very bad situation because i cant follow to updates and i dont like so much to look updates on update's web site.

There is an interesting thing in this program. When i clicked to "Help" and "Version Information" , i looked these:

    "Model Name: Reserved"
    "Serial No: Reserved"
    "Service Tag: Reserved"

What do they mean ? Than, i checked to Vaio Control Center. I looked "Reserved" texts, too. It's not normal i think..

I bought this laptop 9 months ago and i have never formatted it.

Please help me. I hope i told my issue correctly.. Thanks for everything..

Looks like a permissions issue. Can you try running VAIO Control Center and/or VAIO Update and/or VAIO Care as Administrator? Right click the exe, select properties> compatibility and set the check box.

I hope i found source of problem. It arise from Bios. When i joined to Bios, i saw "Model Name: Reserved" text. 6 months ago, motherboard was broken and sony support was changed it. Now, my vaio is not recognize model and serial number.

How do i fix it ? I believe , if i fix this problem, vaio update will run correctly..

    Thanks.

better yet, dont bother with sony update. Just goto your model page on the sony website and download manually.

You need to contact Sony service - I don't think they installed the BIOS in that motherboard properly.

In Turkey, Sony Customer Service is really bad. They have workers who haven't any knowledge about Sony's applications. They know hardware , little bit.

I hope, they ll fix this problem.

Why is vaio update better? It doesn't detect all available updates. Plus keeps running in the background every second of the day, whereas updates come every 2-3 months.
