I have just purchased a Kingston V 128GB SSD, and have replaced my 320GB factory fitted drive in my Z620D.

I wish to re-install Vista (using the Recovery Discs I made when I purchased the laptop) and then use the upgrade discs for Windows 7. When I use the Vista Recovery Discs I get into the Start Vaio recovery centre options and go to complete system restore and I get the following error:

Could not obtain a recovery drive letter.

    How do I resolve this?

The SSD show up in the BIOS.

In the command prompt it lists the following:

VOLUME LTR LABEL FS TYPE SIZE STATUS INFO
    Volume 0 D recoverydis CDFS DVD-ROM 4467MB Healthy
    Volume 1 C SSD 128GB NTFS Partition 119GB Healthy

I am unable to use the original drive as I have managed to break it beyond repair :(

I do have a brand new W7 Pro full install disc, can I use this in some way? I don't really want to in stall it on the laptop as I have bought it for another PC.

    Any Help received with thanks

Isn't it the key that matters, the W7 discs are the same? So, even though the disc is for another PC, as long as the serial number is that of the upgrade discs, it's okay?

There are instructions online on how to use the upgrade disks for a fresh install. Something about not putting the key in during install, then activate once Win 7 finishes installing and boots up for the first time. That's what I did with my desktop, but try to google for more precise and detailed instructions.
