Hi, I'm currently planning on doing a completely clean install on my fz190 using the guide found here: http://forum.notebookreview.com/showthread.php?t=145748
Here's a list of things I've done so far:
1)created a windows upgrade disc using vlite and the windows update anytime folder under C:\windows\sonysys\WAU.
2)Located the vaio recovery center at C:\Program Files\Sony\Vaio Recovery\launcher.exe.
Under the Vaio Recovery Center i chose the "Create Recovery Discs" option and hit "Start." I then chose the option to "Create recovery disc(s) using 2 Recordable DVD(s)" and hit "Next." My first problem is how long it takes to create the recovery discs. The process seems to have gotten stuck at around 5% through the bar and under "Preparing media..." There also seems to be no disc activity at all in the drive. Are these symptoms normal when creating recovery discs?
I also have questions about what to do next. Next, I plan on backing up drivers under the windows folder and downloading all the drivers on the sony website just in case. But after that do I just boot the computer from the disc drive with my Windows Vista upgrade cd, format the drive, install vista and then re-install all the drivers/software I want through the recovery discs? Or do I just boot through the recovery discs and have it format my drive and reinstall windows with only the drivers/software I select? Thanks for any help.
