Okay you people have got to help me with this . My notebook has a lot of pre-installed software which is really hurting me . All of it seems pretty useless but I don't want anything to go wrong so I would like to know which ones did you people uninstall right away .

I've heard that the services which keep on running and running in the background also slow down the system(well the useless ones). If it would have been my desktop I would not have been that worried but I need to take out all the juice from my notebook so I need to know which services to disable so that the system runs smoothly.

    Thank You

    Here is the guideline.

I prefer the route of back up, make recovery CD/DVD, clean install Windows, then only install the Sony-ware I need. The Sony-ware I have now are the hardware drivers, such as HotKey, PowerPanel, memory stick, etc.. The only other software I keep is DV Gate because I have a camcorder.

Sony looks pretty yet the proformace of the S460 was very very very bad.good luck

Sounds like with the Sony S Series notebooks, it's has a lot to do with personal preference. Some people love their S Series and some hate it. There is no way that it can vary that much from just luck of the draw (meaning some are "lemons" some arent') or for example the S360 better then the S480.
