Creating FAQ threads for the models and sticky them?

I was wondering if we could create threads of the Vaio models here and make them into FAQs, I remember seeing a great FAQ of the Vaio TR series on siliconpopculture.com but cannot find it anymore.

I know a lot of great questions are asked of the models here and great questions are provided but it can be a pain to search especially through the huge "Owners Lounge" threads.

We can answer questions such as the battery life on a standard and extended battery, how to downgrade to XP, upgrade certain components, etc?

I was wondering if this would be a viable idea....

I was thinking something like this.

Vaio TN Series FAQ

Q: What are the availability dates of the Vaio TN series?
A: September 20th for Japan, October 15th 2008 for USA, November 5th for Canada, Late November for all other markets.


Q: What are the battery life ranges for the notebook?
A: 5-8 hours for standard battery, 10-15 hours for extended battery.

Q: Any differences in regional models?
A: Only Japanese models will have options for engraved lid designs whereas the USA will get an exclusive purple lid model.

Q: What are the temperatures of the notebook in various situations?
A: It runs at 31 degrees Celsius at full idle, 39 degrees whilst playing HD content and 49 degrees at maximum load playing World of Warcraft.

Q: What is the highest resolution the TN can display out?
A: It can output up to 2560x1600

Q: Can the series be downgraded to Windows XP?
A: The North American models are confirmed to come with a downgrade disc in the box. XP drivers will be made on regional support sites soon.

Or instead of answering the questions, we can give links to the specific post where the answer is located such as in the Owner's Threads which are chock full of information but a mess to wade through.

 

Completely agree. Each model could have its own sticky, which could also include differences between refreshes, which drivers are available, which hardware upgrades have been successful, etc.

Right now i have to look through hundreds of pages on the Z thread to find useful info. So, thanks for the suggestion and I hope it takes hold.

 

Great idea. I suggest that whomever feels inclined to start a thread with the title of "Official Vaio X series thread". The job of the topic starter will be to edit the first post with updates to the FAQ for a while.

We'll put a link in the useful threads sticky. I don't know if we can sticky the FAQ because there is a pollicy on limiting the amount of stickies. But mentioning it in the useful threads will also work.

 

We should create detailed FAQs for all the new models and let the thread creators and moderators be able to add information to the first post which will be the FAQ and then everyone else will leave comments. corrections and suggestions to add onto the FAQs in subsequent posts.

Most of us are inclined to only look at the threads on the first and second page mostly and so many useful threads fall back and are left to collect dust.

And because there is a limit to how many threads we can sticky, lets create a single thread called "Detailed FAQS for Vaio Models" which will give links to all the FAQ threads created.
