I've tried running the Create Recovery Discs from Launch Vaio Recovery Centre however I get the following error:

    "Programs C:\Program Files\Sony\Vaio Recovery\Launcher.exe

This application has requested the runtime to terminate it in an unusual way."

    Anyone else have this problem?

I have all the latest updates.

No I have not. Sorry you're having trouble. I made the 2 discs last night. Between inserting blank media when prompted and pressing OK until actual disc writing began seemed like a very long time. After clicking OK, it says Copying Files, then Preparing Media, and after the VAIO senses your patience has been sufficiently tested, the green progress bar begins to move. Good luck.

I burned 3 recovery discs two days ago first one was a SONY DVD+DL, then 2 SONY DVD-R's, then i tried again with a MEMOREX DVD+R DL, all burned fine, try using different a different blank disc, I don't know if sony gives different dvd burners like dell but I got one call m-a-t-s-h-i-t-a-dvd ram.

Use the F10 key at the VAIO screen to enter the recovery tools and do a reformat, then try creating the discs again.
Also, some systems have an issue writing the recovery info to DL discs. If you run into this try standard DVD-R SL discs.

I believe it is something to do with one of the vaio updates, as I ran all the vaio updates before I tryed to create a recovery DVD. When I restored the laptop back to out of the box state and ran Create Recovery Discs it worked.
